Hinges for equipment doors and access panels.
A hinge has to fit both the closed panel and the path it follows when opened. Webson sources equipment hinges by part number or drawing, including removable and positioning styles. Send the mounting and operating requirements with the part designation.

| Component | What it does | What to specify |
|---|---|---|
| Free-swinging hinges | Allow the panel to move through the specified range. | Mounting pattern, pivot, clearances and load requirements. |
| Removable hinges | Allow separation in the specified direction and arrangement. | Lift-off or removal path, handedness and space to remove the panel. |
| Positioning and torque hinges | Provide the selected resistance or positioning function. | Torque designation, direction, operating range and manufacturer data. |
| Concealed hinges | Fit an installation where the hinge is concealed in the closed assembly. | Mounting geometry, internal envelope and opening clearances. |
Review the closed, open and removed positions

Compare the pivot and mounting surfaces to the enclosure drawing. Check clearance throughout the movement, not just at full opening. A removable hinge also needs room for the specified separation path.

| Feature | Information to send | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Mounting | Hole pattern, leaf dimensions and attachment details. | Identify the surfaces and fasteners used on both sides. |
| Pivot and envelope | Pivot location, closed offset and installed projection. | Check the door/frame relationship and nearby equipment. |
| Hand and movement | Handedness, opening range and removal direction. | Preserve the exact orientation and mating configuration. |
| Positioning | Required torque or detent behavior, including direction. | Use the selected manufacturer’s terminology and rating conditions. |
| Material and loads | Material, finish and the approved load requirement. | Capacity depends on the part, mounting arrangement and application. |
Specify the complete hinge arrangement
For a replacement, include the full manufacturer number and orientation. For a new design, provide panel details, load and positioning requirements, mounting arrangement and service conditions. A hinge’s appearance does not establish its torque or load rating.
Access panels and serviceable enclosures
Hinges support access doors, instrument panels and equipment covers. Removable and positioning designs solve different access needs. Include the latch and any clearance constraints when the closure hardware is being reviewed as one assembly.
Before you order
Can I choose a hinge by hole spacing alone?
Also compare pivot location, installed offset, movement, handedness and load requirements. Hole spacing does not define the full installation.
Does a positioning hinge have the same torque in both directions?
That depends on the exact product. Preserve the torque and direction designation from the manufacturer data.
Can Webson quote Southco hinges?
Yes. Browse the existing Southco pages or send the full number, quantity and delivery requirement. Include matching or handed parts if the assembly needs them.
Include mounting and movement details
Send the manufacturer part number or drawing, quantity and delivery date. Add mounting geometry, handedness, required opening and removal path, positioning requirement, material and documentation.
