Gaskets for panels and equipment enclosures.

A replacement gasket needs to fit the joint and work within the available closing space. Webson can quote a manufacturer part number or a drawing for a cut, molded or profile gasket. Include the material and service conditions with the dimensions.

ComponentWhat it doesWhat to specify
Cut sheet gasketsFit a specified outline between mating surfaces.Outside profile, openings, bolt pattern, thickness and material.
Strip and profile gasketsFollow a joint using a specified section.Cross-section, route, corner treatment and joining requirements.
Molded gasketsUse a defined three-dimensional profile.Current drawing, tolerances, material compound and tooling requirements.
Adhesive-backed gasketsInclude an adhesive layer for the specified assembly process.Adhesive designation, side, liner and surface conditions.

Define the profile and installed gap

Thickness alone does not identify a gasket. The material’s behavior under compression and the enclosure’s closing geometry affect how the joint works. Send the part drawing and any specified compression or acceptance requirements.

FeatureInformation to sendWhat to check
Outline and openingsComplete profile, holes, cutouts and tolerances.Check the sealing path and fastener clearances.
ThicknessUncompressed thickness and tolerance.Do not take the compressed thickness of a used sample as the original size.
Closed gapJoint gap and any compression stops or limiting features.Check the specified material against the assembly’s compression requirements.
AttachmentAdhesive, groove, mechanical retention or other method.Identify how the gasket is located during assembly.

Use the full material designation

Include the compound or sheet-material designation, hardness or density where specified, and exposure to temperature, fluids or cleaning agents. Foam, sponge and solid materials are not interchangeable on thickness alone. Any electrical shielding or environmental rating needs its own stated requirement.

Sealing and cushioning need different checks

Gaskets are used around covers, between enclosure sections and at other mating surfaces. Tell us whether the part is intended for sealing, cushioning or another defined function. For a rated enclosure, preserve the approved gasket and installation requirements when ordering replacements.

Before you order

Can I copy the thickness of a used gasket?

A used gasket may have compression set or wear. Use the original drawing or material specification when available and identify the installed gap.

Does a gasket establish an enclosure rating by itself?

No. The enclosure, gasket, closing hardware and installation work together. Specify the required rating and approved configuration.

Can Webson quote a custom cut gasket?

Send the current drawing, material designation, thickness, quantity and delivery requirement. Include adhesive and documentation requirements if they apply.

Send the profile and material together

Include the part number or drawing revision, quantity, delivery date, material and thickness. Add joint dimensions, attachment details and any acceptance or documentation requirements.
