// PRODUCT SELECTION
Hole plugs for unused panel openings.
A panel plug closes a prepared opening using the selected retention arrangement. Match the actual cutout and panel thickness before choosing the head style or color. Webson can quote a manufacturer number or a dimensioned requirement.

| Component | What it does | What to specify |
|---|---|---|
| Round snap-in plugs | Fit the specified round opening and panel-thickness range. | Mounting diameter, thickness, locking features and head profile. |
| Thin- or thick-panel styles | Use retention intended for the stated panel thickness. | Exact thickness range and clearance behind the panel. |
| Shaped-hole plugs | Close the specified non-round cutout. | Complete shape, flats, corners and tolerances. |
| Specified sealing plugs | Use the selected product’s sealing arrangement. | Exact part and the required installed rating or acceptance test. |
Check the finished cutout and both sides of the panel
Measure the opening after any finish that affects the fit. Include the thickness, available rear space and allowable projection at the face. A larger head does not mean the plug fits a larger hole.

| Feature | Information to send | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Mounting opening | Diameter or full cutout geometry and tolerance. | Match the plug body and retention features. |
| Panel thickness | Thickness at the seating and locking area. | Use the range published for the selected part. |
| Head and rear projection | Outside head dimensions and overall depth. | Check nearby hardware on both sides. |
| Material and function | Grade, color and required environmental or electrical criteria. | Do not infer a sealing rating from a closed appearance. |
Identify what the closure needs to do
State whether the plug is for appearance, edge closure or a specified sealing or protection function. Include material, temperature and exposure requirements. If a particular enclosure rating is involved, preserve the approved plug and installation configuration.
Unused holes in equipment panels
Hole plugs can close unused mounting or cable-entry openings within a defined panel design. For replacement parts, send the complete manufacturer number if available. A photo can show the style, but dimensions and requirements are needed to identify the fit.
Before you order
Can I use the head diameter to select a plug?
No. Start with the mounting hole and panel thickness, then check the head and projection.
Does a plug make the opening watertight?
Only rely on the rating and installation conditions of the exact product and enclosure arrangement.
Can a round plug close a shaped cutout?
Use the plug specified for the actual cutout. A similar overall width does not establish retention or fit.
Include hole shape and panel thickness
Send the part number or drawing, quantity, delivery date, cutout, panel thickness, material and allowable projection. Add any sealing, rating or documentation requirements.
