// DIMENSION GUIDE

Blind-rivet diameter and joint grip

Blind-rivet diameter and joint grip
G represents the total material thickness being joined. d identifies nominal rivet diameter. Select the specified grip range rather than treating overall rivet length as the grip.

Schematic only; not to scale. Letter labels are keys for this illustration. Use the applicable part specification for dimensions, tolerances and measurement conventions.

// PART IDENTIFICATION

Identify the nonstructural flush-head family

MS20605 identifies Class 2 nonstructural blind rivets with a 100-degree flush head. Retain the complete material, diameter and grip designation when requesting a quote.

This family should be distinguished from structural locked-spindle blind rivets and from solid rivets. Matching the diameter and head angle does not establish interchangeability.

// SIZE SELECTION

Grip describes the material stack

Grip is the total thickness of the materials being joined. It is not the overall rivet length. The selected AD3W3 and AD3W4 entries have the same nominal diameter but different grip ranges.

Preserve AD and W in the complete callout. Confirm the required material, installation tooling and drawing before ordering.

// STANDARD STATUS

MS20605 and NASM20605

The legacy MS20605 document was canceled on August 18, 1998 and names NASM20605 as its successor. Submit the designation and specification issue required by your drawing. Document succession alone does not authorize a part substitution.
