Compare mounting, height and movement together
A caster with a different overall height or swivel envelope can change the equipment’s fit even when its wheel diameter matches. Use the model drawing and equipment requirement to compare the complete assembly.

Include floor and service requirements
Wheel material, environment and floor conditions affect the selection. State any requirements for cleaning chemicals, temperature, noise or floor protection. A wheel material name alone does not establish every performance characteristic or equipment load rating.
Replacement and new-equipment requirements
For replacement work, identify whether the order is for one caster, a matched set or a wheel component. For a new arrangement, provide the equipment and operating requirements. Preserve the approved number, layout and rating requirements rather than estimating capacity from wheel size.

Do all caster brakes do the same thing?
No. Identify whether the specified product controls the wheel, swivel or another part of the movement.
Can I infer equipment capacity from one caster’s rating?
Use the approved equipment arrangement and the manufacturer’s rating conditions. Individual ratings alone are not a complete system-capacity assessment.
