Rivet nuts for sheet and panel assemblies.
A blind rivet nut provides a threaded mounting point that can be set from one side of a panel. The thread is only one selection detail: the body must fit the prepared hole and the grip range must suit the material being fastened.

Body, head and end style affect the installation

| Component | What it does | What to specify |
|---|---|---|
| Round-body rivet nuts | Fit the specified round mounting hole. | Body surface, hole tolerance, grip range and setting method. |
| Hex or other shaped bodies | Use a matching prepared hole for that profile. | Exact hole shape and size, corner details and parent material. |
| Flanged or reduced-head styles | Provide different bearing and projection arrangements at the panel face. | Head diameter, height and any required countersink or recess. |
| Open- or closed-end styles | Offer different clearance beyond the internal thread. | Usable thread depth, screw reach and any specific sealing requirement. |
Check the thread, hole and grip as a set
Two rivet nuts with the same thread can have different body diameters, grip ranges or heads. Keep the complete designation when reordering. For a new installation, send the panel details before selecting a nominal size.

| Feature | Information to send | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Thread | Size and pitch, plus any specified thread class. | Confirm the mating screw and usable engagement. |
| Grip range | Actual material stack at the installed location. | The selected part’s published range must cover that stack. |
| Mounting hole | Finished size, shape and tolerance. | Round and hex-body designs need their specified hole preparation. |
| Head and rear space | Head projection and space for the installed body behind the panel. | Check adjoining parts and clearance after setting. |
| Setting process | Tool, mandrel and manufacturer’s installation instructions. | Setting requirements are specific to the part and material. |
Parent material matters during setting
Include the panel material and condition as well as the rivet nut material and finish. A part selected for one substrate is not automatically suitable for another. If the drawing calls for pull-out, torque-out or other acceptance testing, identify that requirement with the inquiry.
Threaded points where rear access is limited
Rivet nuts are used on enclosure walls, chassis, brackets and other assemblies where a separate nut is difficult to reach. They are threaded fasteners; a blind rivet is a different product. List the full part number and mating screw when replacing an installed arrangement.
Before you order
Does the thread size determine the drill size?
No. Use the hole dimensions and tolerance specified for the exact rivet nut body. Different designs can share a thread but use different holes.
Can I use a part outside its grip range?
Select a part whose stated grip range covers the installation thickness. A different range may need a different body length or configuration.
Does a closed-end rivet nut guarantee a sealed joint?
No. Sealing depends on the specific fastener, installation and enclosure arrangement. State the required seal or rating and verify the approved configuration.
