// PRODUCT SELECTION
Threaded rod supplied to a defined length and grade.
A threaded rod requirement needs a thread, material or grade, finish and supplied length. If the drawing calls for cut lengths or prepared ends, include those details as well. Webson can quote the complete requirement with mating hardware.

| Component | What it does | What to specify |
|---|---|---|
| Standard supplied lengths | Provide threaded material in the stated product length. | Thread, grade, finish and length designation. |
| Cut-length pieces | Follow a specified finished length and tolerance. | Piece count, finished dimensions and end preparation. |
| Drawing-specific rods | Include controlled unthreaded sections or end features. | Current drawing, full geometry and processes. |
| Rod with mating hardware | Forms part of a stated nut-and-washer arrangement. | Approved mating components and joint requirements. |
Specify finished length and usable thread
An overall length callout and a usable thread requirement are not the same thing. End preparation and thread runout can matter when nuts have to travel or seat at a particular location. Put those requirements on the drawing or purchase description.

| Feature | Information to send | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Thread | Size, pitch, class where specified and handedness. | Confirm the mating nut or threaded component. |
| Length | Supplied length or finished cut length with tolerance. | Distinguish total material length from piece quantities. |
| Ends | Chamfer, burr control or other specified end condition. | Identify what must be supplied ready for assembly. |
| Grade and coating | Material, strength designation and finish. | Preserve any processing and documentation controls. |
Keep coating and processing requirements explicit
If coated rod must be cut or otherwise processed, identify the required finished condition at the ends. Include material certificates or other traceability requirements with the quote request. Do not treat “all-thread” as a complete material or strength designation.
Rod requirements within a bill of material
List the rod, nuts and washers together when they are controlled as an assembly. Include whether the order is for full supplied lengths or a specific number of finished pieces. For repeat work, use the approved part number and revision.
Before you order
Does all-thread identify a grade?
No. State the required material or grade and finish along with the thread.
Can I request cut pieces?
Send the finished length, tolerance, end condition and piece quantity. Webson can review the processing and sourcing requirement.
Is threaded rod automatically equivalent to a stud?
A stud may have specific end, body or installation features. Compare the full drawing before proposing a substitution.
Include lengths and piece counts
Send the thread, grade, finish, required lengths and quantities. Add tolerances, finished-end requirements, delivery date and any certificates or source restrictions.
